Rocky River Camp
This campground has 2,000 feet of river access on the crystal clear Nueces River. Hiking, swimming and fishing are available at this ruggedly, picturesque location. You can put in here for about a 5 mile paddle trip down to the dam or use it as a take out point for a 3 mile trip down from McDonald's Crossing. This is a sweet little river to paddle when the water levels are up. Ask these folks for some additional put in and take out suggestions for a kayak trip up in this area. They have six cabins and some RV sites available. Some of the cabins sleep up to six people if you like coziness. From Uvalde take Highway 55 and follow to Camp Wood. In Camp Wood, turn west onto River Road (7th Street) where the bank is located. The Camp entrance will be on the left in approximately one half mile. Dogs are allowed on a leash most of the time, but contact the owners in advance to obtain more information. The place known as "the swim hole" is located across the street from the park.
